Kashmir used to be the jewel in the crown of all India. One of the most beautiful places in India. Enclosed by the snow-clad mountains and the gleaming lakes creates a picturesque landscape on earth which is known as Kashmir. Most people questioning about is it safe to travel to Kashmir.
It is often referred to as India’s Switzerland, as the place is blessed with the most scenic views which are worth a visit. The state has a long list of places which reflects the nature’s beauty at its best which cannot be missed by any traveller.
Are you sure it is safe to travel to Kashmir?
Kashmir used to be one of the most visited places in the world but since conflict happens in Jammu and Kashmir. So is it safe to travel to Kashmir right now? Before you travel to Kashmir, you need to understand the problem in Kashmir. Kashmir being temporarily shut down. However, tourists always begin returning after peace is restored. Right now Kashmir is under lockdown according to Al Jazeera.
When can I visit Kashmir?
Undoubtedly, the recent events are unsettling. At the moment, it’s uncertain what will happen going forward in the future. It is likely that the security lockdown will remain for an extended period of time to prevent violence. It is off-limits for tourists and tourism until being announced it is safe to visit. If you have the plan to visit Kashmir, you need to hold on that plan until the India Government or News update said it is safe to visit. Besides this, there is a risk of getting caught in the melee in high tension areas. The substantial military presence in Kashmir can also be unnerving for tourists.
The FCO warns against all travel to Jammu and Kashmir (except within the city of Jammu, air travel to Jammu and within the region of Ladakh), as well as all travel to the areas bordering Pakistan.
Other popular tourist destinations, such as Pahalgam, Gulmarg and Sonamarg, also fall within the areas to which the FCO advises against all travel. So it not safe to travel to Kashmir.
If I booked a holiday to Kashmir?
Travellers booked to India who is concerned about going to an area of heightened tension will not be able to cancel their trips without a penalty. Most people are also rushing to cancel Kashmir travel plans. Kashmir is on edge from being shut down from travelling. Keep praying for them to gain their freedom. Carnage is happening in the paradise of earth.
So I suggest you cancel your planned travel to Kashmir until further update about the safety of tourism and tourist.
Once you start talking to people in Kashmir, you will realize that they all have different opinions on the matter. Some people are happy with the state being a part of India while others think it would have been better if they were a part of Pakistan. Some people would be in favour of Kashmir being an independent state not tied to either India or Pakistan. Majority of the people, however, cannot care less as long as they are left to go through their lives peacefully. This is the average common man who is only concerned with the safety of his family and loved ones.
Almost everywhere typically visited by tourists is regarded as having a tolerably low risk, therefore holiday firms are not obliged to provide refunds or alternative travel arrangements.
Kashmir still can visit but at your own risk. Do not use the main road and Google Maps because Google Maps will bring you the main road.
